I have been up since 5:00 am after 6 hrs of sleep and I woke up feeling GREAT! I have read a lot of self help books in my life. But one of my favorites is The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM) By Hal Elrod. Hal lays out a simple plan that does not involve anyone but yourself to help you have a wonderful and productive day. It all starts with waking up an hour earlier then you have to, and spending time on your personal health and development. You can find more info at miraclemorning.com.
So I had read the book before but I was unable to make the suggestions in the book stick. Stress and responsibilities got in the way and distracted me. Recently I reread the book by listening to it on audible it because I was feeling like I was in a slump. After a false start the last two days, first I had insomnia and was unable to get up early, and the second I succeeded in waking up at my set time of 5 am but was interrupted and was unable to finish all the steps. Yesterday even without finishing I still had an awesome day.
Miracle Morning steps(A really short version):
So my biggest hurdle is accountability so each day I will be posting my morning here. Aren’t you so lucky!
I started out my morning at 5:00 am. I was not tired and I go 6 hours of sleep. I had used nighttime affirmations the night before telling myself that I would be well rested in the morning. I took my temp (tracking my cycle), drank some water and get dressed. Then I was interrupted by A waking up wanting his dada to sit on the couch with him. After talking him down so that dada could get some more sleep and getting him situated on the couch I heated up some pizza for him from the night before. He hadn’t eaten much dinner and was hungry. Talked A into using the potty (potty training), brushed my teeth and splashed water on my face. Then situate A back on the couch and eating pizza!
Currently my silence is guided meditation videos on YouTube. I really like Boho Beautiful’s Guided Meditation’s. After meditating through one of her 10 min videos I switch to exercise and do some yoga.
My reading this morning was the first chapter of Meditation for Beginners: How to Relieve Stress, Anxiety and Depression and Return to a State of Inner Peace and Happiness. You might notice a theme, I am working on being a calmer and more centered parent.
- I respond calmly and rationally when my son needs my attention.
- When I see something out of place I put it away right then, I do not put it off until later.
- I am a happy person with lots of energy.
- I am loving and affectionate towards my son and my husband.
- I will be productive today.
I like to keep my affirmations short at least to start with. It make’s them easier to remember and repeat them through out the day.
My visualization to day was of my being happy and energetic.
